Professionally Guided Birding Expedition
Ely is one of the best birding spots in Northern Minnesota! There have been 318 species identified in the Superior National Forest.
Of those 220 are regular visitors or residents and 164 species are
know to breed here. The area is heavily forested with about 90% of the
land in natural vegetation. There are almost 2,000 lakes and 9% of the
national forest is water.
Blue Heron
itself is a well-known stop on birders routes. We daily see an
uncommon number of birds species. You may add to your life-list while
eating breakfast!
Your package:
Arrive at Blue Heron Tuesday evening. Dinner in town. You
will be staying in 'So On' with its second story, tree top view of woods
and lake . 'So On' has a Queen bed and private bath.
On Wednesday early (with a thermos of coffee and a pocket full of
cookies) you will join local ornithologist, Bill Tefft, for a 2
hour birding exploration; then return to Blue Heron in time for a
well deserved breakfast. The remainder of the day is yours to
paddle or hike(or take a nap).
Cost: Tuesday and Wednesday nights: $270/couple.
Included is your eoom for both nights, guide fee, an annotated bird checklist,
breakfasts both days, canoes and sauna, and our 10 acres of wilderness
on the edge of the million acre BWCAW.
You must specify 'Birding Expedition' in the comment line of your reservation form. Other rooms are also possible at their posted rates.
